The detail is brilliant, I love the clear bone and muscle definition contrasting with the smoothness of the thigh.

thanks.

Yeah I was learning about structure vs. global turn. Its tricky to have the detail sit on the underlying form properly. I learnt a lot from this however :)

Excellent. Feels so solid, so sculpture-like.

Awesome, thanks! That is surely the goal, to sculpt as though it is physical matter :)

Haha, I wish I had the space for oils, I really do its one of my favorite mediums. What I do with watercolors is not anywhere near.

Well its not that difficult if you have a good system worked out. But yeah you cant quite get the richness or luminosity with watercolors. But it has its own charm.

Wonderful! I'm lining up another attempt at oils soon. Can you talk about your colors for the skin tone and any advice or tips you might have? I just picked up a premix flesh tone so that should make life easier.
There's some really nice shading and detail here, awesome!

excellent! its the best way to really learn some solid skills.

I use a palette with 25-30 colors, and there is no "formula" for skin tone. But there is a lot of theory(i've studied at an figure drawing/painting atelier where I learned classical technique). What I would suggest is just paying attention to complimentary relationships. Like shadows will always be the opposite of the lights. For example cool shadows, will have warm lights. Give it a try, I can give you better tips if I see what you can do. just dont be afraid, cause that will hold you back.

Thanks for the kind words man, and good luck with oils. Just drop me a line if you need some tips.
